Sam was stood at the lake, pacing back and forward. He had invited Steph to meet him here, he had a huge question, life changing, and he hoped she would be here soon.
Was it not here that the two had met? That might have been why he had chosen it. Then again, it might have been the way that the setting sunlight hit the water, making it reflect with great intesity. Where he was standing, his shadow was cast back for at least ten feet. It was beautiful, really. That was the best way to describe it.
The perfect setting...

Steph had officialy been appointed Head of Department for Magical Law Enforcement. That was the only good news, besides seeing Sam again, in a long while. Fortunately in a few months she could get a good home since that jobs pays a ton! Though while still in her old apartment, she got a letter from Sam saying that she needed to meet him at the lake at sundown.
It was strange, to say the least. But some feeling inside her said it was either really good, or really bad.
Fortunately where she lived was not too terribly far from the infamous U of M. Once she arrived on campus, she immediately went in the direction of the lake, at once finding it hard seeing that the sun was in her eyes. Still, she was able to reach the lake with no problems. At the edge she quickly recgonized Sam and ran over toward him. It wasn't easy, she was wearing a nice skirt on. "Sam!" she said as she slowed down to a walk. "So.. why did you want me here?" she asked, and then she gently kissed him on the lips.

Sam smiled broadly as Steph appeared. He had been waiting to do this for ages. "H-H-Hi St-Steph." He stuttered, returning the kiss. Great, he was stuttering like mad now. She'd notice something, maybe. Sam inhaled deeply, exhaling slowly, and spoke: "E-Ehm... St-Steph... I h-h-have something t-t-to a-ask y-y-you."

Uh-oh, stuttering. Now she was even more unsure of what was going to happen. Still, that smile gave her hope that this was going to be good. Though Sam usually stuttered when something bad happened. Anyways, she managed to keep a good smile on her face even after he kissed her back. "Sam? Are you alright?" she asked, not wanting to jump to any conclusions, which she probably already did.

Sam smiled again, nodding fervently. "Y-Yeh, I'm o-ok." He inhaled again. "Eh-Ehm, we-we're ok, r-r-right?" Stop it, Sam. Just get to the point. You love her, she loves you. "O-Ok..." Sam breathed. "Eh-Ehm..."
Sam, shaking, though barely, got down on one knee, fumbling in his pocket for a second, before pulling out a small, violet-blue coloured box. He opened it, and the setting sunlight glinted off the metal inside, momentarily obscuring it from view. As he shifted, however, it became seeable.
The actual ring of it was white gold, twisted near the top to form spirals on either side, which came together in the most brilliant red stone, set in the top, with the middle of that having a medium-sized diamond set. Sam smiled. "I love y-you, Steph. And I kn-know we're st-st-still young, b-but... Will you marry me?" Inside, he was glad he had managed the last part without stuttering, though he could hardly hear himself think for the thumping of the heart.

(*drum roll*)
Stephs jaw dropped at the sight of the beautiful ring, but quickly she recovered by covering her open mouth up with her hands. Her eyes were wide, but not with fear, not in the least. Relief took over her quickly, immediately followed by this infinite amount of happiness and excitement. It was hard for her to control herself as well.
This was insane, Sam wasn't even out of school yet, how could they do this soon? Though she sort of noticed that he said 'young'; they would be young forever anyways, so it didn't really matter anymore. Still, amongst this new fear, relief, excitement, she needed an answer. "Oh wow Sam... I...I..." That wasn't her answer, but she needed to say something to give her more time to think.
"Yes Sam. YES!" she yelled in happiness. This was followed by a glomp, but made sure not to knock the ring out of his hand while she did so. Perfect, just perfect and nothing less.

Sam felt a little downtrodden as Steph began stuttering, and sort of blanked out, waking up only when he realised he was on the ground underneath Steph. "Y-Y-Yes?" He asked. "Yes!" He repeated. Excited, Sam kissed Steph repeatedly, on her lips, her cheeks, all over her face. "Yes!" He shouted again, completely oblivious to the people around them. He pulled Steph close, hugging her tightly. "Th-Thank you." He said quietly, before laughing out loud in complete happiness. "Yes!"

Steph held him tight, still aware that the ring was in his hand. That was about the only thing she was really aware of, but she was pretty sure that no one else was around. Steph continuously kissed him back whenever he wasn't kissing her. "Don't thank me, I should be the one to thank you, you know." Though if she hadn't gotten so bored and came down to the lake, neither of them would be here right now, and she would be 18 as well. Finally she managed to calm down, even if her heart was racing like mad, and just relaxed on top of Sam, hoping that he didn't mind her being there.

Grinning wildly, Sam calmed down momentarily, looking up into Stephs eyes. "I love you." He said for what must have been the millionth time. "I really do." He kissed her gently on the nose, pulling her closer down onto him. He liked feeling her so close to him. It was calming. But the peace couldn't last that long. Sam remembered something and, fumbling for just a second, pulled the ring out. "For y-you." He smiled again, taking Steph's ring finger and placing the ring.

Steph enjoyed this moment of relaxation. She had a job, a home, and before she knew it, she was going to get married. Life was good now, nothing could stop her, right? "I love you too Sam. More than anyone would ever realize." she said, then slowly her lips gently pressed against his. Reluctantly, she then had to sit up, but then she was a little more excited since Sam wanted to place the ring on her finger. Looking at the red stone that was now on her finger, she couldn't believe that priceless item was even hers now. "Its so beautiful... I can't believe you'd get something like this for me..." she said softly.

Sam smiled. "I'd get you anything." He said softly. "You deserve it." He smiled again, stroking her cheek. He sat up as well, not really wanting to move, but his leg was cramping up. He sat next to Steph, kissing her again repeatedly. "I am r-really happy." Sam smiled again, laughing once more. "It's u-unreal."

Steph still could not keep her eyes of this truly unique ring, even when Sam was kissing her. "I don't deserve anything. " This was true, Sam had went through worse since he was far more sensitive than herself. Still, she was so incredibly happy herself that she was nothing but smiles. "This is unreal, but thanks to you, you made it real." she said, feeling stupid about pointing out the obvious, but she was so happy that she did not care. Then she kissed him on the lips, more passionately than ever before. It was strange, but she was gonna like this feeling.

"It r-really i-" Sam began, before being cut off by the kiss. He was surprised by the passion behind it, but only momentarily. He returned the kiss as passionately, if not more. He broke it off, breathing deeply, smiling. "W-Well..." He said. He kissed her again, though more gently this time, as if to say sorry for breaking it off, before speaking again. "Wh-When?" He asked simply, hoping she understood.

Steph was quite impressed on his response to her kiss, but she was glad he broke off when he did because she was running out of air. Maybe it was because she was just so excited to marry Sam, though she had a feeling this would come soon enough, but not THIS soon.
"The wedding? It would be nice if we got married after you graduate, but if you think you can handle it before hand I'm perfectly fine with that too. I'm just concerned about your education." she said the last part a little jokingly, knowing that he was doing fine in his school work, or so she thought. Laughing, she rested her head on his shoulder, waiting for his response.

Sam shivered, though barely noticable, as Steph lay her head on his shoulder. It wasn't out of fear, or anything bad, but out of anticipation, out of excitement. It was still hitting him that she had said yes. His mind was still at the part where they were lain on the grass. "I r-really don't mind." He answered quietly. "I'm d-d-doing okay in my ed-education." He added, smiling. He raised his hand to her head, stroking her hair slowly, breathing in her scent, smiling again. He kissed the top of her head, gently, for no real reason.
