Melville looked back, only then realising what he was doing in trying to protect the girl. Well, it was his job to look after the weaker gender, after all, but the idea of him trying to protect a Hufflepuff put shivers down his spine. Everything inside of him was torn between being a getleman and being evil.
He took a step back suddenly at the scream, more shocked then scared as he watched blankly as Sam ran away, not able to put his thoughts together until he was just out of view and Kasey had picked herself up. "Do we...?" he signalled forwards, where Sam had gone.

Kasey was wiping dirt off her cloak when Melville spoke. she looked up at him, mid-swipe and then looked in the direction Sam had gone. "I don't know." She said quietly. "I mean, he was feeding, so we might make him angrier than he was if we do follow him."
She looked over her shoulder. "Maybe we should just go back to the castle? Haven't you had enough excitement for the night?" She was sure she had.

He was turning to the place where Sam had disappeared through the forest, still confused at what had just happened. It had all seemed so unreal. He'd never expected this to happen - even with all of his worrying about something bad being in the woods, he'd never thought that he'd meet it.
"Yeah..." he muttered, only half-hearing what Kasey was saying. He turned back to her, a small embarressed smile coming on his face as he walked towards her. The way she phrased the question would have made it near impossible for him to leave at any other time, but right now, he couldn't agree with her more. He nodded and started walking the way back slowly.

For a few moments Kasey thought about her question and was sure that Melville would have argued and insisted they go further into the forest, she started to fear his answer, but smiled and sighed in relief when he spoke and started walking towards the castle again.
She breathed out calmly and started to walk a little bit behind him. "So, why were you wanting to go in there in the first place... Really?" She asked, trying to talk a little over the creepy noises around them without being too loud as to wake something up.

He never stopped walking quickly, tredding over the farmiluar woody trail as if it were perfectly smooth flat. He shrugged. Why didn't she believe him? Was he that obvious a liar? He wasn't even sure if he was lying at all. "I was curious. All the sories I've been hearing about stuff like... him." he jerked his thumb back so it pointed back to where Sam had been. "So, yeah. Decided to check it out. Got the idea in my head and wouldn't let it myself get out. I'm not a coward." he said forcefully, expecting her to argue with it if he'd said it any other way.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a packet of cigarettes, "Plus they kill you if you smoke on the school grounds." he said, pulling out one of the cigarettes with his mouth. He held out the packet to her, "You smoke?"

Kasey sighed and followed close by as they left the forest. She frowned when he talked about the hufflepuff vampire and gritted her teeth. She didn't think he needed to be so rude, it couldn't be Sam's fault he was a vampire, it wasn't like people choose to be vampires.
She stopped suddenly when he pulled out the packet of smokes and frowned in disgust. She shook her head and stepped back. "Smoking is disgusting." She muttered, she looked to the border of the forest and the school grounds and bit her lip, she looked back to Melville and decided if she left him here alone he'd only get himself into more trouble in the forest.

He closed the packet and stufed it back into his pokcet, "I bet you think I'm disgusting too, right? Probably rightly so..." he said, the cigarette moving in his mouth as he spoke. He took out a lighter and lit the cigarrette with shaking hands, taking a long drag and blowing out the smoke, almost nervous. He looked to where Kasey was looking, seeing the boarders in site. "Would you mind if we stopped here... just to finish this." he said, gesturing the the white stick he was smoking.
There was a look in his eyes that was slightly pleading for her to just stay, wait a little. He tried to disguise it, but it just looked like he couldn't look her in the eye. "You can go ahead if you like..."
